A while ago our creative director gave a presentation about viral marketing. He focused on a campaign that is going on right now to drum up excitement for the upcoming Batman movie. You can read more about it here. Basically Warner Bros. is creating websites and activities for fans to follow… if you know the comic book series there are often little clues for you to find that lead to trailers or hints about the new movie.
I found the whole thing fascinating and after Justin’s presentation I signed up for the newsletter from IBelieveinHarveyDent.com. It’s a site that was trying to get supporters to convince Harvey Dent (Two Face) to run for District Attorney and “take Gotham back from the crime bosses, the corrupt cops, and the insider politicians.” They encouraged people to print campaign posters and show up to specified locations around the country where people would meet up with “Dentmobiles” and rally for Harvey Dent.
So, I went to one of the rallies in Portland even though I don’t know anything about Batman and am sort of a poser and it turns out they took a bunch of pictures and I made it onto the website!
See? There I am!
Anyway, my faithful support (along with probably tens of other people who showed up for events around the country) convinced Harvey to run for office. We’ll see where he takes us next!
